Time on Our Hands

Women, wine, & watches

Every so often, an idea comes along that feels both natural and exciting — the kind of collaboration that sparks curiosity and leaves you wondering why it hasn’t happened before. My latest episode, Time on Our Hands, was exactly that. It brought together two passions that, at first glance, might seem worlds apart: fine wine and luxury watches. But as I discovered alongside my incredible guest, Libby Broodie, the connections run deeper than you might expect.

A Collaboration Between Wine and Watches

Every so often, an idea comes along that feels both natural and exciting — the kind of collaboration that sparks curiosity and leaves you wondering why it hasn’t happened before. My latest episode, Time on Our Hands, was exactly that. It brought together two passions that, at first glance, might seem worlds apart: fine wine and luxury watches. But as I discovered alongside my incredible guest, Libby Broodie, the connections run deeper than you might expect.

Filming at Bray Marina

Libby, a true aficionado of wine with a gift for storytelling, joined me on the back of a boat for this special lifestyle crossover. The nautical setting was no accident; it provided the perfect stage for our exploration of four watches with maritime themes. As the water lapped gently around us, we immersed ourselves in a conversation that was equal parts informative, indulgent, and inspiring.

Nautical Watches and Wine Pairings

Each watch we introduced came with its own sense of character and adventure, nodding to the ocean and the timeless relationship between man, machine, and the sea. While I guided Libby through the horological side of things, she offered her expertise on wine pairings that elevated the entire experience. The result was more than just a comparison of notes - it was a true meeting of worlds, celebrating craftsmanship, heritage, and passion in both industries.

The Pairings at a Glance

As we wrapped glasses and strapped on dials, four standout watches and four equally memorable wines shaped the afternoon.

The Doxa Sub 200T, with its Tiffany Blue dial and iconic Beads of Rice bracelet, found its match in a bright Sea Change Rosé Prosecco. Bold colour and bold bubbles set the tone.

The vibrant Breitling SuperOcean in orange came alive next to Ken Forrester’s Sparklehorse, a South African Méthode Cap Classique full of energy and sunshine.

When we moved to the Rolex Yacht-Master 37mm in Rolesium, the pairing could only be Ruinart Blanc de Blancs—the oldest Champagne house meeting one of the most timeless watchmakers.

And to close, the rare Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3800 sat alongside Billecart-Salmon Le Sous Bois, an oak-aged Champagne with the same quiet prestige and respect that collectors reserve for a Nautilus.

What made this episode so memorable wasn’t only the products we highlighted, but the energy that Libby brought to the table.

Her enthusiasm for wine is infectious, and hearing her draw parallels between a perfectly balanced vintage and the elegance of a well-crafted timepiece was nothing short of fascinating. It reminded me that, whether in wine or watches, it’s the stories, traditions, and human touch behind the product that make them so compelling.

My First Lifestyle Crossover Episode

On a personal note, this was my very first lifestyle crossover episode — and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with how it turned out. Spending the afternoon in such great company, surrounded by beautiful timepieces and thoughtfully chosen wines, reinforced what I love most about creating this series: the chance to learn, to share, and to connect.

Women, Wine, and Watches

Time on Our Hands was more than an episode; it was an experience. Women. Wine. Watches. A simple but powerful combination that I hope will inspire listeners to explore passions outside their own worlds — and to appreciate how artistry and dedication, in any form, can bring people together.

Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoy the episode.
